Tadiandamol trek is located in the south-eastern part of Coorg. Lying at an altitude of 1748 meters, the Tadiandamol trek is 15 km long and can be accomplished in a weekend’s time .

Know Before You Go

 

  • This  trek is not recommended for women who have crossed their 1st trimester of pregnancy, anyone who  had major surgeries, or has a broken leg/arm, has chronic back or neck pains, etc.
  • The Climatic conditions in the high altitudes vary from that of the plains so it is advisable that you take enough time to get acclimated to high altitudes.
  • Consulting a physician before taking the trek is best.
  • Make sure you Carry basic medications and a first-aid kit during the trek.
  • Make sure you are not using plastic bags. maintain the ecological balance of the destinations. Travellers who litter may be fined if found so.
  • ID proof is a mandatory document for each individual who takes up this trek. PAN card won’t be considered as a valid address proof.

The trek

 

  • In the Tadiandamol trek you will Embark towards the top, and trail along the rough and tight trails amidst the picturesque vicinity and densely packed forests.
  • Once you reach the Tadiandamol peak, you get to enjoy 360° views of grass-covered scenes and aromatic coffee plantations.
  • Take time off for a bit in that environs and on the way back, stand down at the tumbling Chelavara Falls, which is considered as one of the most eye catching tourist spots in the region.
  • The next day, trail to the Golden Temple, located in Bylakuppe to experience the peacefulness of the place. It is considered as the largest Tibetan settlement in the Southern part of India,
  • In this shrine you get to witness a golden Buddha statue standing tall at  40ft.

 

Best time to visit

 

The months of December to May are considered to be the best time to take up the Tadiandamol trek.

How to reach

 

You can opt for any means of transportation to reach Coorg, after that Almost one third of the trek distance can be covered by taking a ride in a jeep or private vehicle.

However, in order to climb the peak,  a good amount of trekking is needed, it can be a bit taxing and tiring but it is all worth your efforts once you reach the top most point.

 

As you trek to the Tadiandamol peak, you can take a look at the Nalknad Palace. Thus the palace serves as a good base camp for the night stay of the trekkers.

Raised by Dodda Vira Rajendra in 1792, this historic palace is a two-storied structure and serves as a safe shelter for the trekkers.

one can again start climbing as soon as the dusk breaks , the steep path from the palace which eventually takes you to the peak of Tadiandamol.

 

 

Things to Carry

 

  • It is mandatory to carry a Xerox Copy of your Aadhar/Voter ID
  • Along with that a Small backpack to carry your essentials during the trek
  • Warm Layer of clothes as Kodagu has a cold temperature up to 6-10 Degree
  • carry a Raincoat/Bag covers in case of rains
  • Make sure you have A comfortable pair of shoes with good grip for trekking
  • Carry a Torch/Headlamp to be used at night
  • Extra pair of clothes to change into incase you get drenched
  • Carry Poly Bags to carry your wet clothes
